Long Time No Update.

Updates have been poor, please accept my apologies for that. Christmas and the 1st quarter of 2006 have been a testing time that has now culminated in the wife and I divorcing and going our separate ways. Now I have my head around all of that I will hopefully get back on track…

Ninjod is currently out of the water at Essex Marina. Her rudder was dropped this year due to a significant amount of movement in it. The cause of the movement was the bottom bearing and specifically shaft wear. Geoff, Harbour master for Essex marina (a helpful bloke) put me onto a chap called John Hardy of Hardy Engineering in Burnham.

He ground back the shaft a little more and then using some aluminium epoxy agent bonded a sleeve over the top. The bearing itself was then bored our some more and lined.

With a tube of grease in hand the whole lot went back into NINJOD without any trouble and now I have no incorrect movement at all. All in all I am very pleased.

For the forthcoming season NINJOD will be based in Burnham Yacht Harbour. I plan to move to Burnham as soon as the business with the wife is sorted, it made sense!

In terms of racing and events planned for this coming season I have entered the RORC North Sea race for the end of May and the Petit Bateau single handed race week taking place at the end of August. There are other events ( Falmouth 500, North Sea Triangle & The Royal Torbay Triangle) but given everything else I figured I would wait and see how things unfolded.
